As a Tender Engineer (Electrical – Underground Cables), you will play a key role in supporting the tendering and cost estimation processes for electrical infrastructure projects. The role focuses on underground cable systems and involves preparing accurate cost estimates, coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors, and contributing to competitive technical and commercial proposals.
Key Accountabilities
- Assist in the preparation and submission of tender proposals within specified deadlines.
- Review tender documents, electrical drawings, cable layouts, and routing plans to understand project requirements.
- Perform quantity take-offs for underground cable systems (LV/MV/HV), including cables, duct banks, trenching, backfilling, and associated works.
- Prepare cost estimates and BOQs for underground cable installation and related civil activities.
- Coordinate with cable manufacturers, suppliers, and subcontractors (jointing, termination, installation) to obtain competitive quotations.
- Prepare RFQ packages for electrical scope and follow up with vendors during the tendering stage.
- Support the development of technical proposals, including method statements for cable laying, pulling, jointing, testing, and commissioning.
- Maintain organized records of tender documentation and supplier databases.
- Assist in reviewing tender budgets, including direct and indirect costs.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Contracts, and Technical Office teams throughout the tendering process.
- Support the handover of tender documents and cost estimates to the project team upon award.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Good understanding of underground cable systems (LV/MV/HV) and relevant standards.
- Experience in quantity take-offs and pricing for cable laying, trenching, and duct bank systems.
- Familiarity with Saudi standards (e.g., SEC specifications) is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD; knowledge of ETAP or cable sizing tools is a plus.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with strong attention to detail.
