As a Structural Engineer – Substation & OHL Projects, you will be responsible for designing, reviewing, and supervising structural engineering works for EHV Substations (400/220/132 kV) and Overhead Transmission Line (OHL) projects, ensuring compliance with international codes, client standards, and project specifications.
Key Accountabilities
- Prepare and review structural designs, calculations, and detailed drawings for substation buildings, equipment foundations, cable trenches, transformer plinths, and OHL structures.
- Design and verify tower and pole foundations, gantries, and support structures considering geotechnical and load parameters.
- Review and validate vendor drawings and structural submissions related to GIS/AIS substations and OHL projects.
- Conduct structural analysis using approved design software and ensure designs comply with utility (TRANSCO / DEWA / ADDC / ADNOC) and international standards (ACI, BS, ASTM, IEC).
- Prepare and review material specifications, BOQs, and design reports for structural components.
- Coordinate with electrical, civil, and architectural teams to ensure interface alignment.
- Provide technical support during construction, addressing structural queries and design modifications.
- Ensure all structural documentation is in line with project QA/QC and HSE requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (mandatory).
- Minimum 1 year of experience in structural design or construction for EHV Substations and OHL projects (400/220/132 kV).
- Previous experience in UAE or GCC projects is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, AutoCAD, and Revit.
- Strong understanding of steel and concrete design for electrical substations and transmission towers, including seismic, wind load, and soil–structure interaction considerations.
- Knowledge of structural interfaces with electrical equipment layouts and earthing systems.
- PMP certification or Structural Engineering License/Chartership is an advantage.
- Fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage.
