The Lifting Engineer is responsible for developing lifting plans, conducting load calculations, selecting appropriate lifting equipment, and ensuring proper execution of both routine and critical lifts on-site. They will work closely with project, construction, and HSE teams to support smooth site operations, particularly in high-rise residential buildings and hotel developments.
Key Accountabilities
The position involves:
- Prepare and review lifting plans, method statements, and risk assessments for all lifting activities.
- Ensure all lifting operations are conducted safely and in compliance with company policies and international safety standards.
- Select suitable cranes and lifting equipment based on load calculations and site requirements.
- Coordinate with construction, site, HSE, and operations teams to execute lifting activities efficiently.
- Supervise critical and heavy lifting operations on-site.
- Review crane load charts, rigging configurations, and lifting studies before execution.
- Conduct inspections for lifting equipment, accessories, and rigging gear to ensure operational safety.
- Monitor lifting activities and provide technical guidance to riggers, supervisors, and crane operators.
- Investigate lifting incidents or near misses and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure all lifting documentation, permits, and certifications are properly maintained and updated.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
We are Looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience as a Lifting Engineer within construction projects, with proven exposure to residential and hospitality developments (high-rise buildings, hotels, or mixed-use projects).
- Strong knowledge of lifting engineering principles, crane operations, rigging, and heavy lifting activities.
- Experience in preparing lifting plans, method statements, and load calculations.
- Good understanding of international lifting and safety standards.
- Familiarity with different types of cranes and lifting equipment (tower cranes, mobile cranes, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and safe lifting practices in active construction environments.
- Professional certifications such as LEEA, Appointed Person, OSHA, IOSH, or NEBOSH are preferred.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple lifting activities simultaneously in fast-paced construction sites.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering-related software is an advantage.
