As a Geotechnical Technical Specialist / Senior Geophysical Inspector, you will lead geotechnical inspection operations, supervise investigation teams, and validate inspection plans and results. You will act as the technical authority for both clients and internal teams.
Your expertise in soil analysis, GPR technology, and subsurface interpretation will guide foundation design and improve inspection processes. You will ensure compliance with geotechnical standards and safety procedures while upholding the company’s standards of quality, accuracy, and client satisfaction.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop geotechnical inspection plans, including borehole and trial pit locations, radar survey routes, and field/lab test requirements.
- Operate and calibrate Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), ensuring accurate configuration and data collection.
- Conduct on-site GPR scanning, document GPS coordinates, and verify data compliance and quality.
- Supervise drilling and excavation activities, ensuring sampling follows geotechnical standards.
- Perform or oversee field tests (SPT, CPT, density testing, and Plate Load Test).
- Analyze soil data to determine design parameters such as strength, settlement, compressibility, permeability, and bearing capacity.
- Support foundation system design and recommend soil enhancement and settlement limits based on results.
- Provide technical input to civil/structural design teams regarding subsurface conditions.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical inspection reports and technical documentation including borehole logs, geotechnical profiles, GPR data interpretations, and related drawings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering, Earth Sciences, Geotechnics, or Geophysics.
- 3–5 years’ experience in geotechnical or geological inspection, including GPR usage.
- Skilled in planning geotechnical inspections (boreholes, trial pits, radar survey paths).
- Experienced in field testing: SPT, CPT, density tests (Sand Cone / Nuclear Gauge), Plate Load Test.
- Strong ability to analyze soil data and determine key design parameters.
- Capable of supporting foundation system selection and geotechnical recommendations.
- Proficient in preparing technical reports, logs, geotechnical sections, and GPR interpretation files.
- Preferably familiar with geotechnical and engineering software (e.g., PLAXIS, GEO5, AutoCAD).
- Excellent communication, coordination, and decision-making skills.
- Able to work under demanding site conditions while ensuring safety and compliance.
