Work Location: Cairo, Egypt. 

General Ledger Unit Manager will oversee the implementation and maintenance of the organization's accounting policies and procedures in alignment with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the International Accounting Standards Board (IAS). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.

Key Accountabilities

  • Implement and maintain updated accounting policies and procedures in alignment with IFRS and IAS, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Ensure the implementation of guidelines from company policies & procedures, with a focus on maintaining full control over manual journal entries directly recorded through the general ledger, keeping them to a minimum.
  • Oversee the accuracy of data coming from subledgers, conducting regular reviews and reconciliations to ensure the integrity of financial information.
  • Maintain the authenticity of the Trial Balance, conducting regular audits and analyses to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Coordinate month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to support decision-making by senior management.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and reviews of financial records and processes.
  • Lead and develop a team of accounting professionals responsible for general ledger activities, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
  •  More than 10 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with 5 years of experience in general ledger management or related field.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting requirements, and regulatory compliance, particularly with IFRS and IAS.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with Oracle is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of accounting professionals.
