As a Draftsman Electrical (Substation/OHL/UGC), you will be responsible for preparing and updating technical drawings for EHV Substations (400/220/132 kV), Overhead Transmission Line (OHL) works, and Underground Cable (UGC) projects up to 400 kV, ensuring high-quality, accurate, and standards-compliant drafting deliverables.
Key Accountabilities
- Prepare CAD drawings for substation layouts, single-line diagrams, cable routing, equipment foundations, and control room layouts.
- Draft OHL drawings, including tower spotting plans, profiles, foundation details, and stringing diagrams.
- Develop UGC drawings such as trench sections, joint bay layouts, route alignment, and cable pulling plans.
- Update drawings as per engineering revisions, site changes, and client comments.
- Ensure all drawings comply with client standards (TRANSCO, DEWA, ADDC, ADNOC) and international codes.
- Maintain drawing registers, revision logs, and document control coordination.
- Work closely with design engineers to prepare BOQs, as-built drawings, and engineering packages.
- Support tender submissions with required technical drawings.
- Coordinate with site teams for clarifications and red-marked updates.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
We Are Looking For:
- Diploma in Drafting/CAD Engineering (mandatory).
Experience Minimum 3–5 years drafting experience in:
Substation projects (400/220/132 kV)
OHL transmission lines (up to 400 kV)
Underground cable works (up to 400 kV)
- Previous experience in the UAE or GCC is highly desirable.
- Strong technical knowledge of IEC, DEWA, TRANSCO, and ADNOC standards.
Good understanding of electrical layouts, civil drawings, and structural detailing for transmission projects.
Familiar with cable routing, gantry arrangements, tower details, and equipment footprints.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory), MicroStation (preferred), and Revit or Civil 3D (advantageous).
- Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
