As a Civil Construction Manager – Substation Projects, you will be responsible for managing and supervising all civil construction activities for high-voltage electrical substation projects (400 kV, 220 kV, and 132 kV) from site mobilization through completion and handover. The role requires full ownership of civil works execution, ensuring compliance with design drawings, technical standards, safety regulations, quality requirements, contractual obligations, and client expectations.
Key Accountabilities
- Managing the full lifecycle of civil construction works for EHV substations, including site preparation, foundations, control buildings, cable trenches, roads, and drainage systems.
- Coordinating closely with electrical, structural, and MEP teams to ensure proper interface management and sequencing of works.
- Reviewing IFC drawings, specifications, BOQs, and method statements to ensure accurate and compliant site execution.
- Planning, monitoring, and controlling site progress, manpower, materials, equipment, and subcontractor activities.
- Leading site teams and subcontractors while enforcing strict adherence to HSE and QA/QC standards.
- Monitoring concrete works, reinforcement, formwork, finishing, and infrastructure works to ensure compliance with approved standards and specifications.
- Identifying construction risks and implementing corrective and preventive actions to maintain schedule and cost control.
- Preparing and submitting progress reports, inspection requests, site records, and documentation.
- Chairing site coordination meetings and providing regular updates to project management and senior leadership.
- Supporting project close-out activities, documentation, and final handover to the client.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil construction works for high-voltage electrical substations (400 kV / 220 kV / 132 kV).
- Previous experience in the UAE or other GCC countries is highly desirable.
- Strong technical knowledge of civil works related to substations, including heavy equipment foundations, control buildings, cable trenching, roads, drainage, and soil improvement.
- Good understanding of relevant standards such as ACI, BS, ASTM, and IEC.
- Proficiency in MS Project, MS Excel, AutoCAD, and site reporting tools.
- Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple subcontractors and site teams effectively.
- PMP or construction management certification is an advantage.
- Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
